* 국제장난감도서관대회란?

 ITLA는 매 3년마다 국제 대회를 열고 있는데 2014년에는 한국에서 제13회 국제장난감도서관대회가 개최될 예정이다. 유럽과 아시아는 대륙별 대회도 개최하고 있다.
아시아지역 대회는 한국에서 처음으로 열렸으며, 2013년 6월 일본에서 제4회 아시아지역 국제장난감도서관대회가 열렸다.
지금까지 열린 12차례의 국제대회의 주제를 보면 장난감도서관이 놀이의 중요성을 소개하고 놀이를 통해 건강한 지역사회 건설에 기여하는 것의 중요성을 강조하고 있음을 알 수 있다.
한국협회는 12차례의 국제대회에 모두 참가하였다.

KTLA는 서울시 구로구청과 함께 지난 2011년 10월 11일부터 15일까지 브라질 상파울로에서 열린 제12차 국제장난감도서관대회에 참석하여 차기 국제장난감대회 개최국 신청을 하여 14일 총회에서 투표권을 가진 참석 회원 전원의 찬성으로 2014년 제13차 국제대회 개최국으로 선정되었다.
